You must make two main choices before booking your trip: choosing the package and the date.
Choose the Package
Our Alaska Fishing Packages come with local transportation to and around Kodiak Island. You have a comfortable place to stay, all your meals, snacks, non-alcoholic beverages, and the equipment and fishing licenses you need to have an exciting Alaska family fishing trip. All you have to do is to choose the specific package you want. We offer salmon and halibut fishing packages and Alaska King Salmon & Silver Salmon packages. Other packages include opportunities to fish for Halibut and Yelloweye, Ling Cod, and other species.
Choose the Date
Choosing the date for your Alaska family fishing trip makes a huge difference in the types of fish you can catch. Of course, you’ll need to coordinate with your family to find a date that works for everyone. But keep your eyes on the prize, too! Choose a date that offers you the best chances to catch the fish you want. Here are the best times for different types of fish.
- King Salmon – Available all year, with peak season from May 1 to July 15.
- Silver Salmon – Available from early July, peak season from mid-August through September.
- Alaskan Halibut – Available all year, with peak season from June to mid-September

Although the transportation between Kodiak City and Old Harbor is included in your package, you’ll also need to book flights between your home and Kodiak City.

Be Prepared for Tipping

Pack Your Fishing Clothes
Pack a carry-on bag with clothing you can put on in layers. It’s windy and sometimes rainy here, so be sure to have your rain hat, thermal underwear, and polar fleece clothing. You won’t need much clothing because Kodiak Sportsman’s Lodge is equipped with washers and dryers, so you can wash and wear the same clothing more than once.
