Meet Our Staff

Meet the Owners of Kodiak Sportsman’s Lodge

Meet the owners, Gary and Jeanne Sampson! They enjoy being partners and have welcomed many guests to Kodiak Sportsman’s Lodge. Gary has been an outfitter and in the lodge operation business for 20+ years. He was a professional hockey player for the Washington Capitals and played in the 1984 Olympics. This has contributed to his team mentality for running the lodge. He knows and believes that it takes more than one person to be successful; the combined effort of his lodge team makes Kodiak Sportsman’s a great lodge and experience for his guests. Jeanne Sampson has delighted guests with her culinary expertise. Jeanne has been chef not only here, but also in other remote locations during her 20+ year cooking career.

Rick and Kelley Stonke are very excited to have become partners in Kodiak Sportsman’s Lodge in 2017. Rick has lived in Alaska since 1969. He has hunted and fished on Kodiak Island since 1985 and has been guest and friend of the Lodge since 2006. He’s been self- employed in Anchorage for the past 25 years and looks forward to this new adventure.

Kelley came to Alaska in 1980 with her family and met Rick shortly thereafter. She has worked for the Lodge as Financial Controller since 2007. Rick and Kelley have always enjoyed the outdoors and have passed that love to their 3 children and 6 grand-children.
