What To Expect From an Alaskan Fishing Lodge

Kodiak Sportsman’s Lodge has six double rooms, with double beds, and four single rooms, with queen beds. We can easily add a rollaway bed to your room for an additional guest if needed. Each room has a private bath and a daily maid service, and we provide delicious meals every day.

As we mentioned, we’re on the doorstep of some of the greatest salmon and halibut fishing in the world, and you can bet our chefs are experts in cooking it in the most mouth-watering ways possible. In fact, they’ll cook a wide variety of local cuisine for you to sample while you’re here.

Our fishing lodge has a spacious dining room, as well as an upstairs lounge with satellite television and wireless internet, which means you can relax and swap stories with other anglers after a fantastic day of fishing. There’s nothing better than enjoying a cocktail in front of the fireplace.

Easiest Way To Get to an Alaskan Fishing Lodge

If you’ve never experienced the beauty and exhilaration of fishing in the waters surrounding Kodiak, it’s time to book your ticket. The easiest way is to book an all-inclusive Alaska Fishing Package.

This includes a round-trip airfare from Kodiak City to Old Harbor, a shuttle service, lodging, all meals and snacks, all fishing gear and bait, all rain gear, at least eight hours of fishing per day, fish processing, fishing licenses and local taxes. We also offer specialty salmon and halibut packages. All you need to do is bring plenty of layers of warm clothing to ensure you stay comfortable.

There are a couple of ways you can get to Kodiak, but the most common is to take a commercial flight to Anchorage, Alaska, and then board a smaller plane to Kodiak City. Please note our packages exclude the cost of these flights, as well as gratuities, travel insurance, and liquor.

Best Time To Visit an Alaskan Fishing Lodge

The Alaskan fishing season is typically open from May through September.

• May and June are undoubtedly the “Trophy King” season, but don’t be surprised if you land a big halibut, lingcod, black bass or gray cod. We’re talking fish up to 50 pounds and more!
• July is a great month for a wide variety of fish, including king salmon, halibut, lingcod, yellow eye, and black bass. The warner weather creates plenty of opportunities for wildlife viewing.
• Silver salmon usually start running in August, and some of the biggest we see are caught just 15 minutes from our fishing lodge. You can expect them to weight about 15 pounds.
• Once September rolls around, the silvers are hot in the salt water, and the rivers have plenty of action with a fly or spin rod, which means we can assure you that you’ll have a wonderful time and load your fish boxes right up to the brim before you go home.
