Guests need to arrange travel to Old Harbor. We have special pricing on a local airline and will schedule this for you. Kodiak Island Travel

Traveling to Alaska is much different than transportation in the rest of the United States.  Locations are often accessible only by boat or airplane and that is the case with Kodiak Sportsman’s Lodge.  If you would like to make your own airline reservations, here is the information you need.  If you would like assistance, our travel agent, Lisa Montgomery, will help make your travel plans a breeze.

Airline & Flight Information

You will need to schedule flights from your home airport to Anchorage, AK (ANC) and then to Kodiak City (ADQ).  We strongly recommended you arrive in Anchorage the evening before your arrival date at the Lodge.  This will allow you sufficient time to make your commercial flight to Kodiak City.

There are several flights available departing from Anchorage to Kodiak City on Alaska Airlines or Ravn Alaska. If you arrive on the day you are traveling to the Lodge, you must arrive in Kodiak City NO LATER than 4:30 PM, otherwise you will miss your flight from Kodiak City to the Lodge.  There are no later flights to the Lodge if you miss this connection.

On the date of your departure from the Lodge, book flights leaving Kodiak City at 6:45 PM or later.  ***Note: There are earlier flights available that you may take.  Keep in mind it will shorten your fishing day if you book one of those flights. ***

Departing Kodiak City to Old Harbor

Airlift will provide flights to Kodiak Sportsman’s Lodge and depart in the afternoon of your schedule arrival date. Lisa Montgomery will schedule your flights from Kodiak City to Old Harbor and Servant Air will be expecting you.  When you arrive in Kodiak City, please check in with Airlift and they will tell you the departure time.  The phone number for Airlift is 907-487-4400.
As you exit the terminal in Kodiak City go to the right and you will see the Navigator Bar.  The next doorway is Airlift.  If you need help with luggage walk to their terminal and they will give you a hand.

Departing from Old Harbor/Kodiak City

On your last day of fishing, book a flight departing from Kodiak City Airport at 6:45 PM or later as discussed above.  If you are spending the night in Anchorage, there is freezer space at the airport located near baggage claim, behind the escalators.  The cost is $14 per box and must be paid in cash. Open hours are 5 AM to 2 AM.  Many hotels also provide freezer storage, so check with your hotel.

Travel Expert Assistance from Lisa Montgomery

Lisa Montgomers, Alaska fishing trip travel expertI have been to Kodiak Sportsman’s Lodge and other exciting destinations in Alaska many times. I love to make your travel an easy, one-stop shop experience.  Traveling to remote destinations can get tricky and timing is the key. Cost options and flights are nearly endless. Through my specialized services and experience I can:

  • Make flight reservations
  • Make hotel and B&B reservations
  • Coordinate all transfers for a smooth journey.
  • Quote travel insurance policies - highly recommend
  • Discuss and reserve additional adventures before or after your fishing trip in Kodiak and other destinations in Alaska

Travel Insurance

Weather delays in Alaska are common and the Lodge does not cover costs incurred due to bad weather delays. Travel insurance covers your travels from the minute you leave home to the airport until you arrive back home; door-to-door.  We highly recommend travelers insurance.  I am a licensed agent for Travel Guard and can provide information and rates for insurance.   What will travel insurance cover?  Give me a ring at 866-744-8777 or contact me online and I’ll be happy to discuss it with you!

What Our Guests Are Saying

"Old Harbor is one of my favorite places in Alaska. The people are so warm, and the fishing is exceptional. KSL nailed it. They give 5 star service with some of the best, gourmet meals I've had anywhere. My room was right on the beach and was very clean and well kept. Our fishing guide was a lot of fun and made sure that everyone caught their fill of fish. KSL took care of everything. I just showed up in Kodiak and the rest was handled."

Ron U., Chapel Hill, NC

"An A+ fishing experience. Have booked with them more than once. Fished with friends & family. Without question one of the best experiences I have ever had. Wide variety of fish. First rate equipment. Experienced guides. Custom built boats protect you from the weather. Most liberal fishing regulations in Alaska. Off the beaten path. Great scenery. Not Crowded."

Harvey P., Greater Cincinnati

"The sportsman's lodge is a great place! The guides know the water and work to put you on the fish. You won't starve for sure are the food rivals most fine dining establishments I've been too. I have been there twice on business and someday would love to take my family. One of my Clients also has mentioned he would love to bring his wife up for a visit.Stayed September 2014, traveled on business."

Dennisgroom, Middleton, Idaho

"For a great time fishing in Alaska, look no further than the Kodiak Sportsman Lodge. Gary and his professional crew put you on the fish! The food is great and the staff at the lodge make you feel like you're a part of the family. All this and the scenic beauty of Kodiak."

Susan Harvey, OR Medical Director at Medical University of South Carolina

Dave Jarrett, COO & Executive VP, Old Harbor Native Corporation

"Gary assisted us very professionally and gave us the best time and adventure throughout the trip."

Adrian Gaspar & Scandia Romana

"This will not be a usual sort of recommendation...instead it is the sort of recommendation of a service, that is, guided fishing and hunting at Old Harbor, Kodiak Island, Alaska. I recommend him and the Kodiak Sportsman Lodge highly. You wil catch some very fine fish (King and Silver Salmon in season, Ling Cod in season, and Halibut are the primary game fish, with a good assortment of other varieties of fish if you wish.) in the Sitkadalek sound and will be witness to some of the finest scenery available. The chef is superb at the lodge and the accomodations are much better than most you will see in Alaskan lodges in the mid-price range. I recommend Gary and the Lodge to you highly. Try him, you'll like it, I guarantee."

Willis Starnes, CEO of Shepherds' Outreach Network
